Spectacular Armour in the Abbey is a two day event perfect for all the family. See Medieval Life from the court to the kitchens and demonstrations of the skills of the time, including: Medieval Archery demonstrations, Canon firing, meet Battle Re-enactors and hear Medieval Music.
2019 brings the 548th Anniversary of the 1471 Battle of Tewkesbury which will be celebrated on the Monday with additional events including, all day 1471 Battle presentation, walk the battle field and a tour of the Battle graves in the Abbey.
On Sunday the event is held in the substantial Abbey garden (entrance via Medieval Gate House). There medieval families, live in period style, in colourful tents, cooking in iron pots over open fires. Tea, coffee and cake is on sale in the Gardens.
On Monday the event is held in the Abbey. The event includes activities in the Quire each hour from noon until 3 include Waytes and Measures Medieval Music, Knighting ceremonies, Dressing a Knight. On display, the huntsman, archer, cannon, armour and life in Medieval times. Sacristy is open which keeps the Abbey's most valued treasures safe. The massive door strengthend with horse armour picked up from the battle of Tewkesbury field in 1471.
